Random Thoughts about Axosoft and technology

OnTime 3-User Sales Generate $4,200 for Axosoft Charities!

A little known secret: with the release of OnTime 2007, we introduced a specially priced 3-User version of OnTime for just $197 (a product that's worth about $600 - $199 per user x 3 Users).  But here's the really cool part - we decided that for each of these special 3-User sales, Axosoft will donate $100 of the sale to any of the following charities:

  • Autism Society of America - Their mission: To increase public awareness about autism and the day-to-day issues faced by individuals with autism, their families and the professionals with whom they interact.
  • Komen for the Cure - Their mission: To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
  • National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Their mission: To end the devastating effects of MS.

Why did we do this?  Partly to give back to the community to do something good and partly to help benefit Axosoft by generating more goodwill and awareness. To pick the charities, we turned to Axosoft employees for suggestions and as it turns out, each of the above charities hits close to home for at least one Axosoft employee.

With the list of charities narrowed down to just 3, we decided to let customers make the final decision as to which charity should receive the $100 from their purchase that would be donated.  For customers who didn't know which charity to choose, we also gave them the option to choose one at random.  Here's how it broke down:

  • 8 Chose Autism Society of America
  • 4 Chose Komen for the Cure
  • 6 Chose National Multiple Sclerosis Society
  • 24 Chose to have us Pick one at random

For the "Pick one at random" choice, since 24 is evenly divisible by 3 charities, we're going to equally distribute the 24 choices to the 3 charities, with each getting an additional $800.  So here's how the distribution of donations turned out:

  • $1,600 for Autism Society of America
  • $1,200 for Komen for the Cure
  • $1,400 for National Multiple Sclerosis Society

We plan to do this every quarter and I'll share the numbers with you after the close of each quarter.  I'm off to sign the checks for the charities - this is one of the coolest things we've done at Axosoft.  I'm very excited that we can participate in a small way to help improve people's lives.
