    Worklog feature request

    Hi,

    We are facing following problems when using OnTime:

    1) We have contractors which are supposed to log their work hours with an OnTime item (defect/feature etc.). We need a way to convert this amount of time to a customer worklog to know how much we should invoice a particular customer (I am aware of the possiblility to create new worklog types). There are a couple of ways I can imagine a feature we need would work. Here are a couple of ideas that would make this easier for us:

    1. Each woklog type (Billable / NonBillable) could be customized with additional fields. In our case this would be the a customer from OnTime (let's call is CustomerBillable). We would then be able to select a customer for each worklog entry.
    2. Each worklog can be assigned multiple worklog types so when a contractor would add 2 Billable hours to the log the entry could also be assigned 2 CustomerBillable hours (with a customer assigned).
    3. A couple of worklog entries could be selected and summed up to a single CustomerBillable entry.

    Is this a scenario you are considering to address sometime in the future, or is this something that you believe won't find much use for the majority of OnTime users (I encourage others to joint the topic to see if my my suggestion makes sense for other customers).

    I've added your request into our system.  I can't say at this point whether this is something that we will do, but we will definitely evaluate it for a future version.  I can say that we do have on our list to implement custom fields for worklogs.  No timeframe for it, though.

    Hi,

     Any news on the front of Custom Work Log fields? It really would make our life easier (mainly becasue of integration with other systems such as timesheets management)

    Hi Denis,

    This feature is still in our system for future review. When we decide what features to implement into new versions of OnTime, we take into account the number of times an item gets requested, so I would recommend that you submit another feature request in our Customer Portal.

    We too would like to have custom fields in the WORKLOG. We use our worklog for generating invoice details to our clients. We want to have a Billable/Non-billable flag on each work log entry. Today the only thing we can do is have a shadow set of activity codes which are the same as our normal codes but non-billable. This complicates analysis.

      I note that in the OnTime database there is a WorkLogCustomFields table.
