    Logging in Issue

We have setup all of our users to login using Windows Authentication which works fine when they are running Ontime from their PC.  The issue is if someone tries to login to another PC or even if I log out on my PC and try to log back in through the Ontime Login Screen.  No matter what we try, we get “LoginID or password is not valid”.  The accounts are setup as domain\username and I’ve tried logging in with domain\username and just username and the windows password but nothing seems to work.

The only account that we are able to log with through the Ontime Login Screen is the admin account which was not setup with windows authentication.

    Thanks so much.

    Re: Logging in Issue
We are using the windows version and are unable to login to the web version.  We are using 7.0.1.7150.  I'm thinking that it is an issue with our IIS settings.

    Re: Logging in Issue

    Debbie,

The web when you unistall and re-install the authentication method is reset. If you go to your directyory secuirty in IIS and edit the anonymous access notice the integrated windows authentication is no longer checked.

We tried to address this by putting a message at the end of web installation but seems like no one is reading the text. We will provide a better solution shortly.

Let me know if that fixed your scenario?

    Thanks,

    Arash

I'm not using the web client. This issue is with the windows client.

    Re: Logging in Issue

Can you provide more information with your situation. Did this come up with the upgrade to 7.0.1.7150?

    Thanks,

    Arash

    Re: Logging in Issue
This was a fresh install. This is our first version of OnTime. The user add been previously logging in as ishelp and then we added a new windows account and added him to the OnTime database and I had him login that way instead. It did not work at first, so I uninstalled the client app and reinstalled under his new windows account and that fixed the problem for a few days. I did notice that the install does not allow you to specify if it is for you or all users.

    Re: Logging in Issue
This was a fresh install for us as well.

    Re: Logging in Issue
We tried your suggestion with the the integrated windows authentication and it was already checked.  We went ahead and restarted IIS just to be sure but we still cannot login through the Ontime login window.

    Re: Logging in Issue

The ability to install the OnTime web client for multiple user profiles has been added in the most recent maintenance release of OnTime 2007 version 7.0.2.7191 which is currently available on our axosoft.com download page.

    http://axosoft.com/products/downloads.aspx

If windows integrated authentication is now working for the OnTime windows and or web clients, then here are some points to look out for.

    ·        Make sure the each user that is planning to the use the OnTime product via windows integrated authentication has the proper login credential to the local domain. If they are not logging into their workstations as the domain user, then this authentication process will not work.

    ·        Verify that users workstations are part of the actual domain by right clicking on "My Computer" > Properties > "Computer Name" tab. If they are not part of the domain, then using the computername\username will allow each user to login to the application.

    ·        Check to make sure that the user’s local workstation is not part of another domain in the local environment. If the local environment is configure to work with multiple domains, be sure to add the additional domains under the manage users window in OnTime separating them by a semi colon.

          Example: Domain1\UserName;Domain2\UserName

    ·        For the OnTime 2007 web edition setup, be sure to enable windows integration authenticate within the OnTime 2007 web virtual directory in IIS.

If none of the above points resolve the authentication problem, please be sure to contact us directly at support@axosoft.com and we can continue to troubleshoot this problem with in the OnTime application.

    Thank you,

    Re: Logging in Issue

There are a few situations occuring here.

    1.  For me, opening the Windows version and the Online version work fine with the windows authentication.

    2.  Other people are saying that their windows ontime works fine but when they open the online version it takes them to the login window which does not let them login using domain\login or login.

    3.  Nobody in my company (including me) who is setup with windows authentication is able to logout of their windows version and then login using the login window or login to Ontime on a pc which is logged into by someone else.

In your previous post, are you saying that people who are setup with windows authentication should not be able to login to ontime using their network login and password on any pc that they are not logged into?  Even if that is the case, it does not explain our issues with the web version.

    Re: Logging in Issue correction

We have figured out what was going on with the online version.  Some of our users were trying to use firefox but we have confirmed that we are able to use the online version using both IE6 and IE7.

So now we are down to one issue which would be logging into the windows version on a pc which you are not logged into AND logging out of the windows version on a PC that you are logged into as yourself and trying to log back in.  Is this by design?

    Re: Logging in Issue
The above suggestions are all true. The user had been logging in to this pc as a different domain user before. Therefore, all domain and crendential issues are not issues. It was when we added another user to the domain and then added him to the OnTime database as a user, that we are having an issue. He still logs in on the same machine before that worked perfectly just as a different user. I will verify that the users AD security could be an issue, since it is a new account.
