Date Completed is always checked and shows 01/01/1999

I am on OnTime 2006, 6.1.3.6493.  When entering a new defect or editing a defect, the Date Completed is always checked and reflects the date of 01/01/1999.  Even when I uncheck it and save, the next time I open it, it is checked again.  How do I make the default Date Completed to be unchecked?

RE: Date Completed is always checked and shows 01/01/1999

In the custom field template that you have created, click on the current date value that you have assigned in the default value column for the date completed field and be sure to uncheck the date value. Once you have unchecked the date value from the default value column, click away from this field on any other default value column and the date of 01/01/1999 should get removed.

    Thank you,

I performed the steps and the date does go away from the Date Fixed field in the defects template. I choose Save and close it. Then open a new Defect and the Date Fixed still reflects 01/01/1999.  I open the default defect template and the date is back in the field.   What now?

When you perform the steps on how to remove the date from the default value column, go back to the same template and make sure that the date field are completely removed from the default column view. Can you tell me which version and type of OnTime client are you currently working with?

    Thank you,

I am on version 6.1.3.6493.  I did re-check the template and the Date Fixed field shows 01-01-1999 which I removed per your instructions (and saved.)     Is Date Fixed the same as Date Completed?

    Hi there.

I am on the OnTime 2007 Windows Version, Product Version 7.0.1.7150 and have the same problem even after following the steps above.

Yes, the date fixed is the same as the date completed. If this is still a problem, please contact our technical support staff at 1-800-653-0024 Option 3 for support for us to troubleshoot this problem for you.

Re: RE: Date Completed is always checked and shows 01/01/1999

We have a similar issue and I believe it is to do with the underlying short date format of the operating system when using Windows Integrated Authentication to identify users.

We are running with English (United Kingdom) for our regional settings. Setting short date format to dd-mmm-yy results in all date fields being checked and set to 1/1/99 as the date the event occurred (apart from the date found field where we explicitly set to today's date as a default value). If I change the system short date format to dd-mmm-yyyy then the date fields behave as expected (not checked, but showing today's date).

     We are running version 7.0.1.7150

Re: RE: Date Completed is always checked and shows 01/01/1999

I changed my short date according to your suggestion and changed the field template to "current date" and this helps a lot.  However, when I open a defect the Date Fixed is checked with today's date. But....I can uncheck it and save it and the option remains unchecked which is a behavior I was not getting before. The option was always checked when I opened or re-opened a defect.  This helps so much. Thanks for your input.  I spoke with a support rep for 30 minutes yesterday and he could not figure out the problem. I will inform him.

Glad it made some difference - it would be nice for this issue to be properly resolved as the short date format we have had to resort to is not our corporate standard, and I really don't want to force all users into this format.
