    Question about Reports.

I have been looking at all of the OnTime 2007 Reports, and there are definitely a lot of options.  I can't find a report that does what I want though, and wanted to ask if maybe I was missing it somewhere.  I would like to search / filter the features and defects by application version and print out a List of all of the Defects and Features added in that version.  I would also like to print out the descriptions for each defect / report if possible.  This is a pretty standard type of report, so I imagine it has to be in the program somewhere, but I just cannot find it.  Any help and information is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Re: Question about Reports.

You would need to create a custom report in the OnTime application that will give you a detailed list of defects and features together in one report. Once the report is created, you will also need to specify how to filter this information based on the particular version within the actual report.

To create a custom report such as the one that you are looking for, go to the Reports Tab in the OnTime windows client and select Manage Reports. From the Manage Reports window, select Other Reports and click on the “create a new report” icon on the top left side of the window. Creating other reports in OnTime will require you to input the necessary SQL commands to retrieve the values that you are looking for in the report. Once the proper SQL command is created, you will be able to make the modifications in the report that you would like.

    Re: Question about Reports.

Thank you very much for your response.  How do I know what SQL Commands to enter?  I don't really understand what the application is looking for...

    Thanks Again,

    Re: Question about Reports.

In the windows users guide you will be able to get the necessary information by looking at the "Creating Custom Reports" section. The Other Reports in OnTime require you to input a set of SQL commands from the database. Looking at the OnTime database by using SQL tools such as SQL Enterprise Manager or the SQL 2005 Management Studio, you will be able to determine which tables and fields you need for the report.

    Re: Question about Reports.

I'm sorry, I have read the information on creating custom reports, and I still do not understand this.  Nothing I enter into the SQL Commands screen seems to be what OnTime is looking for...  All I want is to create a report that lists all the bugs and all of the features added in a given version of the software.  I don't really understand why this needs to be so involved.  Any help and information is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Re: Question about Reports.

When creating a custom report in OnTime, it is recommended that you have some basic knowledge of SQL and Active Reports. Below is an attached text file that gives you an example of how to create a custom report by using SQL statements. This particular SQL statement will give you all open defects, features, tasks and incidents from the OnTime database. If you are still having problems with creating custom reports, then I would recommend of taking the Axosoft University course on Managing and Generating Reports.

    Re: Question about Reports.

So in summary, if the customized report can be based on an existing (provided from OnTime) then the process is relatively easy as it is just modifiy the report template. Otherwise, the process has to include the SQL procedure for the retrieval of the fields, etc., and then work with the modificaton of the report template.

    Right?
