    Making fields invisible

I am in the process of evaluating OnTime.  I would like to make certain fields invisible for the non-technical users who submit incidents reports.  I have created Field Templates, and then applied them to workflows, but the undesirable fields still show up (although disabled).  Is there a way to make fields completely invisible?

    Thanks for the help,

    Ryan

    Re: Making fields invisible

To make certain fields completely invisible by the end users of OnTime, you will need to make this change in the custom field templates which will disable the view for all users. You can enable "Advanced Security Settings" under Tools > Manage Security Roles window which will not make the fields invisible but rather non editable. When the desired user security role is selected in the manage security roles window, click on the "Advanced" icon which is located on the toolbar. Enabling field-level security will allow you mark certain field as non editable by the user who is assigned to this particular security role in the OnTime application.

Thank you for the reply.  Is there a way to make fields visible for some users, but invisible to others?  Specifically, I want to hide certain fields from some of our business groups within the organization.

    Re: Making fields invisible

With the current options that we have in place in OnTime 2007, you won’t be able to do that unless you create a specific workflow step just for your business groups. This way, you can have a specific workflow step along with a custom field template that hides certain fields from the end users of OnTime.

    Thank you,

Thank you for the assistance.  I have a question about the customer portal.  Where is the field visibility/access rights defined for customer portal users?

    Thanks,
