Feature Request - Customer Portal - "Tasks"

    Feature Request - Customer Portal - "Tasks"

      Please add an option to add "Tasks" to the "Defects Features Incidents"  tabs in the customer portal, or did I miss this option?

    Hello dslater,

    Tasks were designed to not be visible in the Customer Portal, as they were intended to be used solely by internal OnTime users. We envisioned Tasks to be used primarily as private items specific to each user, but with the ability to share them internally. Giving customers access to Tasks through the Customer Portal is a request we've heard before, and is one our development team is aware of. I can't say whether or not it'll be changed in future versions of OnTime, but if you like you can make a Feature Request in our Customer Portal and let our team know how you think we can improve our application.

    Why make tasks visibile in the portal?

    Well, often we ask customers to do something, like check the that a custom report is correct. What we did to get around this problem was to set the workflow step of a feature or incident to 'Client' then they know that they have the responsibility for the next action.

    Where tasks would be helpful is in the project planning stage, for example, we know that when we implement a new system, the customer has to do a whole series of tasks, if we could make them visible on the portal then we could create tasks which could then be assiged to them.

    I'd also like to expose tasks to the customer portal.  Frankly I was amazed to find out it was not possible.  I want to use the product for project management and collaboration for a field in the construction industry - in our industry the entire reason for a portal is to enhance visibility into the status of tasks!

    I certainly understand that some may not want some or all tasks to be seen which is great - just let the user decide.
