    Editing Workflow Step Reply Quote
I'm setting up a Workflow for Tasks in OnTime 2006 and I've run into a problem where I can't seem to be able to be able to remove any of the Allowed Next Steps.  For example, the first step is "Need for Change Found".  There is only be one possible next step being "Waiting Approval", however, the default "Any Step" is listed there and I cannot remove it.  In fact, I cannot remove any step, including the "Waiting Approval" step that I've added to it.  I click on the red X and it prompts me for confirmation, yet it remains.  Any someone clue in a newbie?  Maybe I just don't understand how workflow really functions yet, I dunno.

    Hello MrShannon,

Could you tell me the exact version of OnTime 2006 you're currently using?

Also, are you logged in as Admin or with a user account that has Administrator privileges?

    Thank you,

I'm still not sure why I cannot delete the workflow steps.  To help illustrate what I am talking about, I made a really quick video.

    http://mrshannon.com/forums/ontime/CannotRemoveStep.html

It shows me going through the process of trying to edit the workflow step.  First I just try to remove "Any Step", then I try to remove the "Waiting Approval" step.  Then I add a step and try to remove it.  All three removal attempts fail with no errors.  Any help on what I am doing wrong?

    Hello MrShannon,

Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to be certain before I posted on this particular issue. Thank you for the video, it helped immensely.

With OnTime 2006 Web there was a known bug that would not allow users to remove the 'Allowed Next Steps' when using the Web client. There are 2 options available to you in order to work around this defect.

It was fixed in OnTime 2007, so you could upgrade and enjoy the other features and benefits included in that version. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you any information you need in order to upgrade. Also, we're going to be releasing OnTime 2008 sometime before the end of this year, so that's an option as well.

Or as an easier solution, you can remove those 'Allowed Next Steps' from the OnTime 2006 Windows application instead of the Web client. This functionality worked fine from the OnTime Windows application, just not from the Web client- so you could simply configure your Workflow in the Windows app and then continue using the Web client as you always have.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Excellent, thank you Tom.  I do not have the Windows client installed so I've never tried that.  We are definitely interested in upgrading so I would like to talk to someone about our options and what path we should take (2006->2007->2008 vs 2006-->2008), so maybe we should get into that while I find the installer for the windows client.
