Are there any notes anywhere to provide help when formatting Wiki pages, or is it as basic as it seems. I am particularly interested in how you position images on a wiki page (apart from pushing them around with spaces), and changing paragraph spacing.

Doing it in design mode is just as basic as it looks.  We've added the ability to edit the actual HTML in the RC release, so you have full control over the HTML in the wiki (in Windows this is a button on the toolbar, in Web it's a button on the bottom of the editor).
