    Creating Custom Reports

    Hi...

I want to add a new report for Work Logs.  I have a SQL Query that I've created and want to use that.  I've read in forum that I can add under "Other Reports".  However, when I go to Manage Reports, I do not see any options under Other Reports.  When I expand Work Log Reports, I can add another Shortcut but it does not allow me to add my own SQL query.

    Any help is appreciated.

Are you connecting through Remote Server?  Currently you can only create/edit reports if you connect directly to SQL, it does not work through Remote Server.

    Hi Dan...

I am not using  Remote Server... When you say I have to directly connect to SQL, what does that mean?

Divyesh - Are you unchecking the "Automatically filter...." checkbox?  This will enable the fields to enter the SQL 'select' and 'order by'.

Connecting OnTime directly to SQL rather than connecting through Remote Server.  If you're not using Remote then you should be able to add new reports, assuming you have the proper security permissions.

    Hi Dan...

I must be missing something.  I am using the web based application to go to Manage Reports.  I have admin permission to the app.  Is there suppose to be a "thick" client as well?

    Re: Creating Custom Reports
You cannot create reports through Web, only through the Windows client.  You would need the Windows client if you want to create custom reports.

    Hi Dan...

I was able to create report using Windows Client and create shortcut.  I can now see it in Web Client... However, when I run it I get following error message...

Any idea.. It works fine in Windows Client.  Also where do I setup Printer in Report Setup?

    Re: Creating Custom Reports

There is currently an issue with the reports where if you change the paper size or margins, when running the report ActiveReports tries to look at the default printer to make sure it supports those settings.  This means that if the computer where the report is run does not have a printer installed you'll get that error.  The only workaround is to try to install a printer driver on that machine.  Or not change the settings of the report.

This issue will be fixed in the next release so that a printer won't need to be installed.

    Re: Creating Custom Reports

Hi Dan.... The computer where the report is run from does have printer installed and a default set.  Also the IIS server has default printer setup.

    I'll try with page settings.

     Thanks
