Unable to connect to database through remote server

Problem: When I try to setup the remote server, I cannot get through to the database and get a "unable to connect" error.

    My setup is like this:
Just upgraded to version 7.0.1.7150 so I have the latest version installed
    A virtual Win 2003 Sp1 server with:
Web client installed and running. (uses SSL)
Remote server is installed here as well.

Another server on the network has the database. Database user is "owner" meaning full rights in that particular database.

I can connect via web or client directly to the database, however when I try to setup the web client to use the remote server, I cannot connect to the database.

I don't use security tokens, use SSL and the line I put in the remote connection tab in the web configuration tool is:
    https://<my_domain.com>/OnTime2007RemoteServer/
    I have also tried
    https://<my_domain.com>/OnTime2007Web/OnTime2007RemoteServer/
    But also here no luck
Same result if I try to connect to the IP address, or the root of the webserver.

I feel I have done what I can up to this point and could really use some help. Is it not possible to run remote server and web client on the same machine? - Is it not possible to use remote server when it is not placed on the same server as the database? ...

    Help appreciated.

Re: Unable to connect to database through remote server

Can you tell me if you are working with an SSL certificate for the OnTime remote server by any chance? If you are, then please make sure that you have specified that you are using an SSL certificate under the “Remote Security” tab by check marking the option to “Require SSL connection”. Also be sure to have the proper SSL settings under the directory security tab within the OnTime 2007 remote server virtual directory in IIS. Make sure that the virtual directory is also using .Net Framework 2.0 as well. If this is not the case, then try regenerating the GUID token key under the remote security window to see if that will resolve this problem for you. Please make sure to save all of the remote server settings before attempting to establish a successful connection over the remoter server. If nothing works, please feel free to get in touch with us via email at Support@axosoft.com for us to troubleshoot this scenario.

    Thank you,
