Slow upload speed = attachment timeout?

One of our users of Ontime has a very poor upload speed. Whenever she tries to upload a file bigger than 4-5 MB, she gets a timeout error. This occours in the client and web (both IE 7 and Firefox 2.0). I have set her up so she can either use the web client, or the client connecting through remote server.

This is the first couple of lines in the error:
    ---
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: There was an exception running the extensions specified in the config file. ---> Maximum request length exceeded.
    ---
This is not happening to any other users (they all have faster upload speed).

We are all on the same page version wise i.e. version 7191. The webserver and SQL are fully up to spec. The files she tries to upload are .avi files

I have edited web.config to allow attachments over 20 MB, so this shouldn't be a problem.

On the IIS box, I have set session timeout to 60 mins.

Ideas are MORE than welcome as this is severely hampering our process.

The error message that you are getting seems to be related to the size of the file that she is attempting to upload. The default upload size in OnTime windows and web should be 10MB unless this was changed in the web.config file. Please verify the exact size of the file that she is trying to upload into OnTime and make sure that the upload limit is not exceeded in this case.

What happens if you attempt to upload the same if not similar file into OnTime? Do you get the same error message by any chance?

    Thank you,

We have tried with numerous files in various sizes from her end, and all over the 4-5 MB size she gets the timeout.
When I (or others) upload these size files, there are no problems in doing so (even with the files she has that fails on her end).

Re: Slow upload speed = attachment timeout?

On the web server, please make sure that the attachment file size is at least 10240 in the web.config file under the; C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\OnTime2007Portal directory. The HTTP maxrequestlength value should be 10240 by default. Have the user try to upload the file once more to replicate the error message. Once the error is replicated, copy the entire error message and forward it to us for review.  Then have them try to upload this file using the OnTime windows client connecting to the remote server and let’s see if you get the same error message. If the errors are different, please be sure send us both of them for review.

    Thank you,

Re: Slow upload speed = attachment timeout?

Dragan, thanks for the suggestion, however I managed to fix the problem.

I reinstalled all the services we have running and after that, everything is fine and dandy again. The problem could have been a typo in the config file; now it is set to the default 10 MB instead of the 20 MB I initially set it to. Thanks for your help.
