Hello,

 we moved most fo our bugs via the multieditfeature to another subproject. After that, all the statusinformation is gone.

The workflowstep is reset to open, the percent commplete is from whereever to 0, and so on.

how can this happen? How can we reset this to the last values? This is very urgent!

Do you have 'enforce workflow' checked for the project?  If so, when items are moved into that project they are placed into the workflow step specified in 'items moved into project are placed into'.

Unfortunately there is no way of reverting back the values.  You can look at the items' history to see what values they had before the move, but you would have to manually revert them back.

I did not find any 'items moved into project are placed into' options in our version of ontime. I think this is major-critical. We had to restor the complete database because of the lost data!

There should be a warning (that says what will happen) at least!

Did anything change in this behaviour in the version 2007?

That option should be there in OnTime 2006 as well.  When you edit a project, in the 'Workflow Settings' section it's the last option on that window.  This behavior did not change in 2007.

ok, I found this option now, but what hapens if enforce workflow is not set? Are the defects put into the selected step anyway?

 

Yes, it would still put it in that step.  The 'enforce workflow' checkbox is used to force users to select a workflow step.

that means that there is absolute no workaround this. Users have to fumble directly in the database to reorganize their structure.

Thats not a good feature! Think of what this means to the useability/scalability of your app!

We are planning for a future release to add an option that will let you tell OnTime to try keeping the item's workflow step if possible, when moving the item.
