Hello Mark,
Did you look at any of the online video tutorials we offer? We've made those tutorials specifically for new users like yourself who are looking for the best example and walkthrough for installing OnTime for the first time. Here's a link to those video tutorials:
http://www.axosoft.com/products/ontime.aspx?cn=otm_installation_videos
The videos will explain this, and I've already corresponded with you specifically about this issue, but I'll clarify a bit for everyone's benefit here in the forums.
The Remote Server installation will prompt you, as any OnTime component installation will, to either create a new database or connect to an existing one. So essentially you can install the various OnTime components in any order you'd like, so long as they're all configured to connect to the same database.
Yet in the case of using the Remote Server, it makes sense to install that before the Windows client. When using the Remote Server connection to access your database you'll need the Remote Server URL and the security GUID, which are acquired after installing and configuring the Remote Server Configuration Utility.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,
Tom Harder
