Work log entries are tied to an item, they cannot be tied directly to a customer. But the items can be tied to the customer.
You can create work log reports, but if you need the work logs grouped by customer you will probably need to create a custom (Other) report and run a cusotm query (or stored procedure).
You can export work log entries to CSV, there's an Export button on the toolbar.
There is an option in Tools -> User Options to change the Customer Contact selection from a dropdown to a search control.
In OnTime 2008 we've introduced the ability to import customers from a CSV file.
