    User Management in OnTime

As we are rolling this application out around the world the list of users is becoming quite large. Is there any way of grouping these users based on the projects. We have configured the system with the top level projects as two halfs of the world followed by Regions and then countries under them. From there the countries create their projects both post production for support and New Projects which are managed via our pre-production processes.

This all works fantasitcally but it would be great if we could associate users to a project. In this way the templates would populate the assign to and requested by based on the region. In some way log the users based on a location and have it as a default filed in the template. So you could default the template for a region and then the other fields like assign to and requested by would populate based on this region. But if we had someone from out of the region then it would be a matter of selecting their region and then selecting them as a user.

There's currently no way of grouping users in any way, however, there is a way to limit the user list in the templates by their security access.

So if you set up your users' security such that they only have access to projects based on regions, then when you create an item for a project, only users who have security access to that project will show up in the list.

This option is under Tools -> System Options -> User Lists Settings -> List users by project access

    Re: User Management in OnTime

Having groups of users would be useful in many other ways too.

     1) Show all items assigned to my "XYZ Development team"

     2) Re-assign all items currently assigned to the "Super Test team" to the "Wizzo Test team"

     3) Assign this incident to the "ABC Product Support team" (anyone in that team could therefore pickup the incident.

The use cases are endless and would add massive benefit to organisations that work in teams.

    regards
