    User Authentication - V 7.1.0.7311
I am a new user of OnTime and really think you have a great product.

The issue I have is related to Domain authentication.  I have set up a number of users with domain logins.  After running for a while, one of those users selected the logout from ontime which takes him back to the login screen.   There was no way that he could log back in to OnTime from that screen.  He tried <userid> and <domain>\<userid> and <DOMAIN>\<userid>, but was not able to authenticate.  I set up a generic user and attempted to login and have verified that indeed the only way I can get a user to log in, is to start OnTime with that user being the logged in user for the PC.

How can a user authenticate against Active Directory assuming they need to?

    Thanks.

There is no way to do that, OnTime only looks at the currently logged in user (logged into Windows) and matches it to an OnTime user.

    Hi Dan,

Sorry for the delay in between posts.

From what you are saying, if the user hits the Logout there is no way to get them back into the system w/o closing and reopening the client.  In certain locations, such as lab workstations, we utilize a generic login tied to the PC but access to the patient medical record is guarded by requiring a User Login which is an AD account. Since the user account is not valid on the workstation, I can not have them log in to the PC.  Since I'll have over 11,000 user IDs to maintain and  since it is difficult to train users to synchronize their password in OnTime with those in Active Directory, is there a way to utilize some external authentication?

For other applications which I have created a web service (in .NET) which passed a few parameters can authenticate against AD, LDAP or a Custom Service. I would be willing to discuss the code off-line if that would be useful to you and/or your other customers.

     Thanks.
