    Fundamental wiki linking features missing

I started looking at the wiki for OnTime, and I like the idea, but I think it misses the mark on a fundamental feature of all wiki software.... using WikiWords to create links to other wiki pages with WikiWords. This is one of the "liberating" things about a true wiki, it makes it dead-simple to create cross-page references.

Some other issues related to linking:

    1.  page names don't need to be unique, even within a project. At best this is confusing. Even if WikiWords don't make it in the final 2008 release, it would be nice to see unique names enforced so that WikiWords can be introduced later. Unique names per-project, along with a way to create 'qualified' page names that include the project would be fine. Something like   WikiWordOne, /SubProject/OtherWikiWord, ../ParentProject/WikiWordThree, etc.
    2. When you create a link, you have to know the exact project of the page you are linking to. Instead of optionally showing all pages in subprojects, the link dialog shows pages for a single project only. For a db with lot's of projects, it's going to be tedious to try and track down a page if you don't know exactly where it is to start.
    3. You can't create a link without text selected.. why not? If I try to link w/out selected text, it should just insert text that is the name of the page I'm linking to. Again this would be much simpler if auto linking w/ WikiWords worked.
It would be great to get some of these basic things working, because the idea of having integrated web pages in OnTime is really nice. Being able to auto-link items based on markup will open the door to other things in the future like allowing you to type something like "D344" and have it be an auto-link to Defect # 344 and similar types of functionality.

Re: Fundamental wiki linking features missing

    Hello cprinos,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the Wiki in OnTime 2008.

I've reviewed all of those ideas here in this forums, and they all seem to be very reasonable suggestions.

If you think these ideas are fundamental to improving the OnTime Wiki, to please take a moment to post a couple of Feature Requests in our Customer Portal so our team can review them one at a time. We're always looking for feedback from you, our users, about ways to enhance the existing features in OnTime so that as we plan future releases we can provide you with a better product.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you,

    Tom Harder
