    Workflow Question

I am wondering if anyone has ever had the need for a conditional workflow.  Example is when we are passing things to testing based on the product line I would like to be able to assign it to a certain person.

Yes - I'm doing exactly that... when wrokflow changes to 'Ready for Testing', it gets assigned to my QA guy.

    Re: Workflow Question

Yes I know you can do it when you only have one product and one guy.  I have multiple products and different people that are specialized at testing for those products.  Is Axosoft capable of a conditional step or do I need multiple workflow steps for testing.  Testing Product A, Testing Product B etc and then they can get assigned to the correct tester?

    Re: Workflow Question
No, it is not possible to have conditional step.  You will need to create different steps if you want to assign an item to different users.

    Re: Workflow Question

I have set up a seperate 'SubProject' for each product. Each sub-project inherits the workflow settings from its 'parent', but can also be changed.

    Re: Workflow Question

You should definetly consider conditional workflows. I have also the need of this. We are a small company and we will have it mostly for analysis purposes. We want to use the product to analyse, measure and  improve the processes. The only way doing that is to use conditional workflows. Here come some samples:

    1. How much time did the incident spend between each step. Update the specified step begin and end datetime field. Used to focus our attention on a specifik step and improve it.

    2. How many incidents are reported as bugs by the support team and they are actually rejected because they are not. Update a rejected custom field when the developer reject the item as bug. Can be used to find the reasons of this behavior.

    Etc.

Basicly, when one or several fields meet some conditions then update another set of fields with predefined values. Filters for conditions and one set of Actions for each filter will do it.
