using email exception ... could not be resolved: 'mail.SERVERNAME.com'

I'm evaluating the software. I have several projects loaded. As best as i can tell under tools:manage:email accounts i went and added a unique email account for that project. The email tests fine from that panel and the only addional setting i do there is set the project associated with the account.

(An additional question is how do i create a email that maps to the root node unassigned to a specifc project - the "All Projects" container)

On a project where email is set up, an inbound email does show up in the email inbox cue.

But if i open a task and try to send an email it errors out. This creates two errors in the exception log:

    Exception ID:  145
    Exception Type:  WebException
Message:  The remote name could not be resolved: 'mail.SERVERNAME.com'

    and

    Exception ID:  146
    Exception Type:  SmtpException
    Message:  Failure sending mail.

    Hello nphoenix,

First, there is currently no way for an item to reside in the root 'All Projects' level- all items must reside somewhere in one of your Projects.

Secondly, it sounds as if you've configured inbound email, and it's working correctly- yet perhaps you have yet to configure your outgoing mail server. Outgoing mail sent out from OnTime needs to go through your SMTP email server, which is configured under "Tools>Manage>Email Notifications". You'll notice the default is our dummy example, 'mail.SERVERNAME.com', which you'll need tochange to point to your SMTP server.

Here's a short video podcast we've published which explains email configuration for both outgoing and incoming email in OnTime:

Let me know if you need anything else.

    Thank you,
