    Accessing OnTime2009Web

I recently installed the beta2 for OnTime2009.  I am able to run the windows application w/o any problems.  One thing that I cannot do is get the web edition to run.  Each time that I try to access OneTime2009Web, I am greeted with the registration.aspx page (below).  This is not a new install, I updated from OnTime2007 to OnTime2008 (a short time ago) then OnTime2008 to OnTime2009.  I am using my existing database and I have ensured the configuration is correct.  What could I be missing?

The first time you install OnTime Web Edition, you are given a 30-Day trial period, during which time you can add up to 10 users of any access type (Windows, Web, VS.NET, and Mixed Mode) to the OnTime Database for testing purposes.  After this evaluation period, you must either enter a product activation key or remove the product from your system.

    OnTime Web Edition Configuration

To configure a Database or to activate OnTime with a product activation key, use the included OnTime Web Configuration utility.  This utility is a Windows application and can be run from:

Start Menu - All Programs - Axosoft - OnTime 2009 - OnTime Web Configuration - OnTime 2009 Web Configuration

This utility allows an administrator to do any of the following tasks:

    • Activate an OnTime database
    • Create a new OnTime database
    • Connect to an existing OnTime database

    Re: Accessing OnTime2009Web
Did you install OnTime 2009 Web on top of 2008?  By default it will install to a different folder (e.g. C:\inetput\wwwroot\OnTime2009Web).  If it is a different folder, when you run the OnTime Web Configuration utility, make sure it is pointing to the right folder (the OnTime2009Web folder) so that it can update the proper ontime.config file.  Alternatively you can copy the ontime.config file from the OnTime2008Web folder to the OnTime2009Web folder.

    Re: Accessing OnTime2009Web

I thought I had installed on top of 2008 but it looks like it installed into a new folder (OnTime2009Web).  I went looking for the OnTime.Config in the OnTime2009Web but one did not exist.  I copied the one from 2008 (and even 2007) and I continue to receive the same message.  When I go into the OnTime Web Configuration Utility, I verified it is pointing to the OnTime2009Web folder.

    Any other ideas?

You might have to restart the web application, either by editing the web.config and saving it, or just restarting IIS.  OnTime loads the config file when it starts, so it may be cached.

    Re: Accessing OnTime2009Web

I tried restarting IIS but still the same message.  I could be wrong but it seems to be acting as if this is a new install and it is unable to find the database, even though I have configured it in the web configuration utility.

    Re: Accessing OnTime2009Web
Are you using Windows Authentication to connect to the SQL database?  If so, you may have had impersonation turned on for your OnTime 2008, so you'll need to do the same for OnTime 2009.
