I'm trying to get a new install of the customer portal up and running (version 2007), and when I try to load the URL of the site it goes into an infinite redirect loop.  It appears to be bouncing me between default.aspx and errorpage.aspx.  No errors are being recorded in the system event log or in the exception viewer.

Make sure to run the Customer Portal configuration utility to set up the connection to the database.

It is configured properly as far as I can tell.  When I click the "Test Connection" button it tells me that it was successful.

It's not set up to use Windows Authentication, is it?  You will need to make sure it uses a SQL login to connect.

It is using a SQL login.

Can you phone in to support?  It might be easier for us to do a GoTo Meeting and figure out what's going on.

Sorry to raise this again, I'm running 9.0 1-user edition and don't have the available funds for a professional services session but I'm seeing this same problem with the Customer Portal. It's giving an infinite redirect loop. The DB is setup, I've even pointed to the Web Ontime config file that works fine but still the customer portal goes ga-ga!

 I know it's a cheek given that I'm getting this great app for free but it would be nice to get to the bottom of this and perhaps get something that others can search on into the knowledge base.

     Are your customer portal and OnTime Web on the same machine and using the same application pool?  Could you get back with a little more information about your Portal setup and the specific error you're getting.  Thanks.

Hi Brett,

I got to the bottom of it. My own mistake I did'nt realize that the config tool was creating a web.config file. I assumed it was creating a app.config in the c:\program files\Axosoft\Customer Portal. repointed it to the website virtual locations (c:\inetpub\www\Customer Portal) and created the config file and it works fine.

It probably would be useful if the the text on the config tool was a little more explicit (ie say Destination Location for web.config file or something) as this has confused some other people out too.

I was experiencing the same problem using the v11 Beta and using Windows Authentication, however setting the authentication mode to SQL Server fixed the issue.
