  • Re: Automatic Severity Levels & General Question

Hello Rwood, 1) To automatically assign the value of uthe Severity field, or any field at all, you can use either Field Templates or Workflow Steps. You mention setting the Severity level 'to email', but I'm not sure what you mean by that since fields exist for Items, not for emails.Without going too much into each of those configurations, ...

  • Re: Question on how to use Security Roles?

Hello mdp2176, Let me start with your second question, and then we'll get to the first one. 2) There is currently no way within OnTime to apply different field templates based on the user. Field Templates are either applied to a project or to a workflow step. If you'd like to have the ability within OnTime to apply templates based on users, I ...

  • What is the difference between Edit and Edit in Workflow

I understand that when you end a request in Edit in Workflow the popup is populated with the fields you have defined in a Field Template. So why is there an Edit button which pulls up the request without the fields defined in the Field Template???

  • Re: Incident vs. Bug

Hello Ken, There is a way to apply a separate set of field templates for Customer Portal users. In the Windows client, right-click on a project and select 'Edit Project'. In the Web client, select the project and click the 'Edit Project' button. You'll see a list of settings on the lefthand side of the Edit Project window. Select 'Customer ...

  • Publicly Viewable Field on Item Templates

I cannot get my item templates for bugs and features to show the ''publicly Viewable'' checkbox. I'm 99% sure that I have set up my item templates correctly, because any other changes I make in the templates for bugs or features show up as expected. As a result of this, we cannot make other users' bugs or features public ...

  • OT2007 - Users List Pick List, Field Templates, and Filters

I've added a custom field for defects named ''Project Manager''.   It is tied to the Users List Pick List. During the process of adding/editing a Defect or Feature, this works as intended. The problem I am having is when I attempt to do a filter based on that custom field.   When adding a filter line item, I select the custom ...

  • Re: Overwriting of another users text

To a certain extent you can control who can edit what. You do this by normally disabling the fields in which editing must be restricted, and by providing special ''editing'' workflow steps, each of which is accessible by a different security role; a field template must be associated with each such ''editing'' workflow step which allows ...

  • Re: Making fields invisible

To make certain fields completely invisible by the end users of OnTime, you will need to make this change in the custom field templates which will disable the view for all users. You can enable ''Advanced Security Settings'' under Tools > Manage Security Roles window which will not make the fields invisible but rather ...
