What is the best way to set up OnTime for managing requirements? Understand the overall concepts, but not entirely the mechanics of getting this accomplished.
Any guidance, suggestions or impacts of knowledge from experienced OnTime Users in this area?

Using Axosoft 2008... I am trying to import a csv file into OnTime and want to map a field to the workflow steps, which apparently is no longer supported but which we badly need! However, we were willing to go in and manually update the workflow step after the import but the new tickets created by the import don't even have the ...

When we add an incident, it goes into a workflow step called 'Logged'. We would like to be able to run an external process to check if the customer who logged the incident hasn't exceeded their credit limit. If they have, then the workflow step should be set to 'Credit Hold'.
Is this going to be possible?
I was thinking that the external ...

Hi Dan,
it's been a while! I've since tried your suggested changes and it does reduce the pagecount to 1. But presented on the page is
Defect Found (only the first of 5 workflow steps)
140 (the total number of defects within the project, which are at differing workflow steps)
So, stating the obvious, it doesn't seem to be splitting ...

I'm looking to find a way where we can automatically re-open a closed incident when an email message is added. Right now we will still get the email notification informing the assigned user that an email has been added, but it would be nice not to have to remove the filter, find the closed incident and then change the workflow to ...

Is there a way to make certain fields be required based on the current workflow step or status? For example, I don't want to 'Close' a defect if the 'Resolution' field is not filled in. Or, similarly, I don't want to close a defect if the 'Date Fixed' field is not filled in. However, neither of those two fields can be filled in ...

Hello Rwood,
1) To automatically assign the value of uthe Severity field, or any field at all, you can use either Field
Templates or Workflow Steps. You mention setting the Severity level 'to
email', but I'm not sure what you mean by that since fields exist for Items, not for emails.Without going too much into each of those configurations, ...

The list of available search fields is limited... why ?
I would really like to search for a specific workflowstep without having to set up a filter. Can you tell me why some fields (such as workflow step, assigned to etc.) are not available... or is it my issue as in a setup problem ? I note that an Ontime response to an earlier post ...

Hello Dan
thanks for your reponse and help. I did give this a shot but unfortunately the report came back empty. The project I had selected when the report was run has approx 250 defects in it at this point.
I've attached a screen of the new report criteria and the output. If you could give it a quick once over to check I've made no glaringly ...

hi all,
i'm new to OnTime and would very much appreciate some feedback on how it is possible to report against defects by workflow step, i.e. how many defects are at a particular step in the workflow within a project. i've had a look about the app, admin guide, and user guide but i couldn't find anyway of customising the dashboard to view defects ...

To a certain extent you can control who can edit what. You do this by
normally disabling the fields in which editing must be restricted, and
by providing special ''editing'' workflow steps, each of which is
accessible by a different security role; a field template must be
associated with each such ''editing'' workflow step which allows ...

Hi there, I went in to security roles and I unchecked the ''edit defect'' - but made sure that ''change a defect's workflow step was correctly checked''.
However, when I went in to see the difference, both Edit Defect AND edit defect in workflow step were greyed out. Any ideas please ?

The reason that the dates are not being applied is because the OnTime customer portal is not configured to work with workflow steps. If you attempt to run through this process in the OnTime windows or web client, you will notice that it works just fine.
Thank you,
